Happy Birthday LFG

Happy Birthday LFG. It’s hard to believe that mommy and daddy bought you home from the hospital ten years ago today. The enormity of …who you’ve already become...of participating in your journey...of being your father is such that words fail me my love. So I’ve borrowed without permission but with great admiration, the words of poet David Whyte. He wrote this about his little girl—inspired by watching her sleep in his arms.
“Carrying this child…I carry a bundle of sleeping future appearances…
while making invisible prayers to go on with her where I cannot go ….conversing with so many unknowns that must know her more intimately than I do…
and so to these unspoken shadows I make a quiet request—to the great parental darkness—to hold her when I cannot—to comfort her when I am gone…
to help her learn to love the unknown for itself—to take it gladly like a lantern for the way before her—to help her see where ordinary light will not help her…
and twin her passages of loneliness with friendship…may she find in all this day or night the beautiful centrality of pure opposites…
and a future—uncradled by me—but parented by all high call…”

I love you LFG...

My.

I just had a long conversation with my 28 year old daughter tonight. About things....and such. I was remembering that year. The ten year old pod burst on the unsuspecting world. It takes your breath away and others' in close proximity.
Congrats Pod Daddy. You're doing a good job and better still...........loving it.

HEY! Happiest of birthdays little one! What fine luck to have ADG as a Dad. You have so much to teach him that you'll never get bored.

Here's wishing you many, many more.

Happy Birthday LFG...10 is a great year so enjoy the wonder of it. ADG this is a touching post, and much appreciated. Imagine having two LFGs in your house. I do, and I can tell you I could spend every hour of every day in wonder at these creatures (13 and 10, both girls, both lovely, both growing older too fast for me).

Great pictures too.

A very Happy Birthday to LFG. Buy her an extra present to be from your readers; like a Mini. Please send the bill to the wealthy Admiral Cod.

Thanks,
Hilton

I hate "me, too" posts, but...

Happy Birthday Sweet LFG!

ADG, you mushy old guy, you! My daughter is half LFG's age, but, I imagine, every bit as sweet as your treasure. Daughters are great--enjoy yours before she becomes the dreaded Teenage Horror From HELL.

Now, if you could just stop infecting her with GTH...

Hmm. What's with all the TLAs at this here site here?

I have three daughters that I adore (and a son)....a good theme for you is Paul Simon's song Father and Daughter. Well Done.
Cheers!

A belated happy birthday wish to LFG, your lovely daughter!

The best gift you can (continue to) give is constant vigilance and attention as things can run off the rails rather suddenly, I can unfortunately tell you. Even if you are vigilant.

I am confident you know and will do that and may Maxminimus still be rolling along on the web so all your "unknown friends" can be part of graduations, small and large victories, a wedding, children and so much more.

And as Barney Fife says, at the first sign of... well, anything, "nip it in the bud."

'member all that stuff you (and me) used to do...? (should I shut up?)

Sincerely,
Tom

Happy belated birthday to your beautiful LFG. I remember so well thinking that I would NEVER be ten years old. Now soon to be 39 years later, I wish time would slow down a bit.
