ADG and LFG...Travelling

LFG and I are beginning our last week of vacation before school starts. Correction…it’s MY last week with her before school starts. This child remains on the Grand Tour and will do so after she and I conclude this week. I’ll fly in from Denver late next week and grab the little towheaded wonder for a flight down to Ponte Vedra/Sawgrass where she’ll spend yet another week at the beach. And no, I don’t get to stay down there for any meaningful amount of time. I’ve got an empire to run.
Ok, so what’s on tap for the LFG week? Who knows…it’s gonna be spontaneous. Butcept one thing…we are headed to Gotham on Tuesday morning for a gander at The Addams Family musical on Broadway. It’s at the Lunt-Fontanne…I saw my first Broadway show there. That’s the kinda trivia that I used to tell LFG with great flourish, and she loved it. Now she just rolls her eyes. Shut up. I know what’s coming…but I like denial. Shut up.
And we’ll make some of our usual Gotham rounds. LFG wants to go back to Dylan’s Candy Bar and the American Girl Store.
She never resists going to see Alan and Mark at the Flusser Atelier but I’m gonna have to put her in a headlock and drag her to Belgian Shoes.
I have NO money to buy anything but I’m gonna do a little recon for a blog story about…Belgian Shoes. Fancy the sh_t out that.

Onward...to Gotham

Enjoy! We saw the Charles Addams exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York - not sure if it's still running, but he's in their permanent collection and at the NYPL - might be worth a google.

Have a Great Time with your little one - the years go by way too fast. August always puts me in a funk/depression and I fear it's because we are finishing up a great summer and the 'wee ones' are heading back to school - another year older and less time at home with me. Never mind.

Looks like you'll miss my invasion of Virginia. If there is an APB released about a 'rubber Belgian' on the loose, you'll know the source and be thankful you're outta there.

She's rolling her eyes because she's young enough aka still has her memory :-) to remember that you've already told her "that" story. That's my explanation and I'm sticking to it. Do you golf at Sawgrass? Have fun in NYC! xoxo

Okay, the title so near that pic of Bebe & Nathan is just a little disquieting when it first comes up

Nathan Lane playing a man who is madly in love with a woman? If he's convincing in the role, then he's a better actor than I thought.

Have fun in Noo Yawk!

If you have $18.99 that will buy a book from your new favorite author. I'm leaving this weekend for a tour in the Midwest. When I come back I have the last weekend of August off and Labor Day weekend. After that I am at Borders in McLean, Springfield and Fairfax, and a special event at SAKS in D.C. before heading out of town again....

Garden-Gun...I've got a Belgians tale in the hopper.

Fogey...Nathan Lane was brilliant. He carried the show.

NCJack...sorry buddy. didn't mean to scare you.

Preppy101...I no longer play golf but yes, I've played all those courses down there.

ADG, I have missed you - but I'm so glad you and L are going to American Girl place. Did I mention I have a stable of American girl dolls myself? I see a lot of myself in L - she is precious.

Vogue...we are right here in Old Town...come see us! Thanks for the kind words re LFG...she practiced admirable restraint at the American Girl store. But she did get a Barbie at Dylan's Candy Bar.

Barbie? Uh oh, Dad...

ADG said...

Vogue...worry not. I'm not concerned. LFG is a highly principled gal and won't be sucked into the Barbie craze. She only has two of them and they end up on a shelf in her bedroom here. She has a Rockette Barbie and now the Dylan's Candy Bar Barbie...das it.

My mother refused to let me have any Barbies but someone felt sorry for me and gave me a Woolworth's Barbie-type doll for which my mother knit a Fair Isle sweater and almost went blind. Perhaps I can attribute being highly principled to this day to the absence of Barbies in my life.
