Big Pony-Big Gator

First there was the Polo Big Pony
I assume this thing cleans up after itself...no?
This shitake is scary....
Next, witness the Big Gator...and no it isn't a Beach Music Revival band.
Just when I thought that Lacoste was doing a good job of revitalizing their brand.

Both seem compensatory to me.

Onward-Compensaphallutorically...ADG

I swear this is for those of us who have suddenly found ourselves needing reading glasses!

Not a fan of the giant logos. Keep it understated and classic, folks.

Dear Lord! Why must it all be so big?

The alligator looks like it just "pooted in church".

I wish I understood the why of wearing advertising and not being paid for it.

I saw the new gator in an add and thought it was just a graphic error.

ADG - don't let that gator anywhere near your...oh, never mind...

Mr. Toad is correct: it's all about compensation, but it ain't the economic sort.

While not a fan of logos on clothing, that is the original gator ! Look at Rene's gator logo on page 104 of Flusser's 'Dressing the Man.'

Don't care for the big horse or big gator.. smaller is classier.

Lacoste has certainly crapped in the punchbowl this time. My God, that thing is going right for monsieur's nipple! Hideous: as bad as the "retro" Fred Perry wreaths on their new shirts.

Je les detestes.

Really awful stuff...
RL said in an issue of Fortune a couple of years back that they designed the Big Pony explicitly so that the logo could be seen better on TV when the US Open/ Wimbledon linesmen, ballboys, etc. were shown. LEDs are next.

That's nothing.....

Can't wait for BBs great huge dead sheep

Amen, Hallelujah and our eternal gratitude for highlighting something we frequently obsess on at our goofy little blog, we refer to it as Logophobia. Sadly, it is getting worse with age. Sigh.

May you enjoy a splendid weekend,
tp

That is a big crocodile; not gator. I would expect steroid enhanced polo ponies from Uncle Ralph, but not engorged crocs from Lacoste. NCJack, I wouldn't be surprised by BB's great huge dead sheep. Vineyard Vines might also entertain us with a beached whale.

Big player... big croc

Why not just leave the price tag on the shirt and wear it showing... I guess that would need to be an enlarged price tag.

Suburban Princess...Reading Glasses?…no.

JMW...I’m a fan of being overstated-butcept in ways other than these big logos.

JDB...”Dear Lord! Why must it all be so big?”…I’ve been dealing with that question for years.

Toad...Indeed.

DAG...It is a gigantic error

AnonEngFem...no worries there.

Anonymous...I said it first.

David V...Yes but there ain’t no Rene’s around anymore to pull off what was, when he was wearing it, a one off.

Paul ...” smaller is classier”…I’ve been telling the ladies that for years.

K.S.and the Sunshine Band...Retro Fred Perry anything’s gonna be bad.

Anonymous...Ralph should limit the availability of said pony to the ball boys.

Memphis88…Amazing. Reason I asked about your coat size-I was going to send you a 38 reg Flusser bespoke for the shoes but it would be too big for you.

NCJack...I’ve already seen it.

the Preppy Princess...Logophobia. Damn.

Summer...Croc or Gator…either way…it’s big ain’t it?

It's big and it bites. I want one on my polo shirt. Lacoste GTH IYF.

I see you found the South Philly polo shirts. All you need is the big chrome wheels on the Saab, and you would fit right in with the locals.

Personally i dont have anything to say against the big gator (but the pony sucks), because I remember a picture of R.lacoste waring a summer sportcoat with a big gator on his pocket, so id'll be like "back to the roots". I'll look it up in the flusser-bible

Both oversized tags are just silly....and one looks like a wanker wearing such a thing in my humble..........
It is tantamount to saying: "Look I am wearing RL if you have not noticed."

Memphis88 said...

I feared that might be the case. I hate being s'damn short/skinny!

Did you? Oh man! I am totally outted as the girl who looks at the pretty pictures, blithely skims the the text, and jumps blindly, if enthusiastically, into the conversation . . .

ADG - well this girl needs reading glasses!

ADG- After I survive this weekend, I will send you a photo of a completely outrageous Christmas present that no doubt you would have included with this post.

Oh that big logo is just tres tacky. Perhaps it's because Ralph is getting old and his eyesight is failing?! They should be stocked separately as are Large Print Books. And if I remember correctly our olympic atheletes were sporting it this year. Eeek. Oh well.

Terrifying and nightmarish! Would certainly love to know who is suggesting that this is a good idea???

Saw a gent in church this morning - with a OCBD big horse RL shirt. It just didn't look good...
