Color Me Gone

I assume that you too, are still here. I've decided that since the Lord didn't fetch me, I'll hit the road this week...for the entire week. I'll begin in Charlotte and end in New Orleans. I've lived in both cities having started a Pharma career in Charlotte and interestingly, walked away from it in New Orleans. I've not set foot back in the Big Easy since I left and I'm gonna hang out there next weekend and catch up. Charlotte will be a blur...back to back stuff till lunchtime on Wednesday and then off to the Crescent. You'll probably hear little out of me this week.
But my weekend, even with the impending rapture upon us, was busy. I wore the Quoddys to LFG's soccer game and nobody laughed at the baby aspirin coloured soles.
And the Snow Leopards won 5-1. Finally.
It's not my LFG weekend and I barely got to talk to her at soccer. So I drove an hour and a half round trip to her dance class so that I could hug her neck for five minutes. Two weeks without my young'un is tough. And the five minutes was worth every minute of the trip.
So I'll catch you later.
Onward. Towards revenue generation.

At first, I couldn't figure out what the fuss was over these Venetians. I am sorry to say that now I can see a photograph of them in natural light, they do indeed look decidedly unpalatable.

LPC...yes. That little neck nape bolstered me.

LimeGreener..."decidedly unpalatable" ?? Please. Ugly maybe.

I laughed at your baby poop-colored soles.

Tintin likes venetians. Now you're wearing a pair... maybe you two really are one and the same! And after all that fuss about beef rolls, here you go and buy a pair of berolled (beefrolled? bebeefrolled?) shoes!

ADG said...

FogeyYoung...they aren't berolled. They aren't beef anything. They are ...

"obligatorially side-cinched"

Hello ADG:
Clearly now that we have all had a reprieve, and the end of the world has not, after all, taken place, you are making the most of the new found freedom [and in your new shoes!]. How very wise.

I am typing this from heaven post rapture. I am sorry that you were unable to join me on my ascent. Stay tuned for the wrap up part of your life when the flashback sequence reveals you have been dead all-along...
Or I'm day dreaming while sitting in a cubicle in Wilmington.
Say hi to Harry Connick Jr. for me.

An oldie, maybe even redundant: "We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, and know the place for the first time." T.S.Eliot

What is it the kids say? Playa hatas?

ADG said...

T...I'd be the last to know what the kids say. Cheers from Charlotte.

Flo...and of course Buckaroo Bonzai..."wherever you are...that's where you are"

BrohammasCubicleMan...I received a text message from a childhood buddy of mine a moment ago...from "heaven". Nice to know that y'all have iphone and internet privileges up there.

Jane and Lance....I left those shoes at home. Wearing a pair of proper ones at present, made in Northampton.

NCJack...I'm downtown and I can't find a race car yet. Been lookin' since I landed at the little airport in Concord. I'm sure as soon as I start talking in the morning, the rumble will commence.

Nothing better than a sweet Daddy story!! Enjoy your travels! I love Charlotte and hope to make it to New Orleans one day.

I believe the Buckaroo Banzai quote is,

"Remember, no matter where you go--there you are."

Now, to do a quick search to confirm...

Yes! OK, it's part of a longer quote, but still.

Go get 'em ADG. And say hi to NoLA's finest mounted police for me. They might remember me from the '84 World's Fair....

Oddly vertiginous to hear folks arguing in earnest that one perspective on when the rapture will happen is ridiculous and that the other one, using logical proof from the Bible, is cogent. There are people who read sacred text as truthful metaphor but they don’t have a big voice in American culture.

And I love my new Quoddy Maliseet Oxfords. They "cradle my foot in a hammock of comfort".

Now ADG, ugly is a bit of an understatement!
