Quoddy Venetians

Horween unlined Chromexcel leather.
Camp soles. Kinda the love child…
…of L.L. Bean and a sleeker, minimalist suitor.
Which begs the question…
…what’s anything minimalist doing at my house?
A paucity of bells and whistles…
…even after I darkened ‘em up a bit.
Onward. Friday night. Having found a fetching photo of LFG. Polo logoed avec hat.

Good Lord. How can you even set your eyes on those ugly little things--the orange-pink soles are creepy--after having been to Cleverley?!

you have so many much better looking shoes in your closet. these are not terribly attractive.

The best photo is the last photo. The baby LFG wears her hat with natural style - inherited, of course.

What did you do to darken them?

I actually like them! Maybe they are the minimilist love child of L.L. Bean & Christian Louboutin.

Hello ADG:
We are rather loathe to voice any note of criticism at the danger of ruining a beautiful relationship before it has even begun.......but, brown loafers with tangerine soles do not [in the modern parlance] float our boat. Perhaps the lagoon is the best place for these Venetians!!

As for the bergere stool.....now that we could easily find a home for!!

I liked the brick soles enough to have 'em put on my boat shoes. Very nice. Not Cleverly nice, but...

Tberry...yep. There ain't no comparing this to Cleverley. These are nothing more than house scuffs actually...butcept I'll be wearing them outside. To LFGs soccer game actually.

H-Brightons...you can't ruin this with that level of timid criticism. I was called a "twat" (fanny) by a reader a couple of days ago.

Yoga...they WERE, originally, intended to be a Bean & Christian Louboutin love child. But Bean chuckled at Louboutin when they got "ready" and Louboutie had some performance issues.

James...I darkened them with cordovan shoe polish.

LimeGreen...yep. I inherited it from her.

MegTown...so?

Fogey...You forget. I am a redneck. From white-trash stock. A South Carolinian. I've been to, and actually graduated from at least one better school than anyone in my clan. I've traveled the world. I've accumulated some resources and at least an intermittent manifestation of taste. But admittedly, the base, raw material of my underclass lurks like the Proverbial Manatee...unwieldy and dangerously close to the surface...a sitting duck for lethal collisions with the world above my insular zone. Yes, these will be my Manatee Shoes and the verbal lashings from all of you...the propeller scars...are to be expected.

Damn. It's obvious that my meds haven't kicked in yet. Off to the soccer field.

You transformed them with the darker red-toned cordovan wax, now the leather color goes much better with the sole color, I especially like that the white topstitching got darkened down by the wax. I like them. But isn't that a beefroll?

I hope you have had better luck with them than I have had with my Q boat shoes, the worst pair of shoes in my closet.

I guess that I really am becoming a sycophant because I like these also. Maybe not my favorite sole, but I love the uppers. Something good to wear to the lacrosse fields with a ball cap to keep the sun off of your face.

MAX!

I ran up some redecorating ideas for you. Don't tell me you haven't been thinking about this, I already know better. I think LFG will approve wholeheartedly.

Do the Swinging Medallions own a pair?
