Back To School

Still no time to write the Pulitzer-esque…Bowdoin Prize-worthy…angst thread-woven, or as Cheever said to Cavett… stories “of young men who’ve lost their mothers then deciding to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel” blog stories. But I did want to say hello. Mostly because I know that you miss LFG.

We’ve had a grand summer and I’m nothing short of depressed that it’s over. So for these past few weeks I’ve been…
…frolicking one last time at the beach…with this woman…
…and providing her with appropriate back-to-school headgear…
…and lending her my Barbour…
…doing homework…already…
…wearing green shell cordovan venetians…shut up…
…grabbing a few things horizontal for fall 2011…
...and pairing them with transitional white trousers...demi-winter whites. Shut the ___up.
…but not grabbing the gloves…
…meeting the likes of author and all around great guy...G. Bruce Boyer…you need to order his new book...Gary Cooper: Enduring Style.
…taking photos of Lily with that Flusser guy…
…and stealing said Flusser guy’s vintage bespoke shoes…
…and still drinking these--but I'm down to three per day…
…helping LFG kit out the next Steve McQueen…
...with a Skuut bike...
…arm rasslin’...
…wearing the last flurry of seersucker…
…and wearing GTH formal shirts under linen shawl collared dinner jackets…
… driving my current placeholder till I pop for a 560SL…
… LFG’s MINI Cooper…
…finding for the first time…hilarious pictures of a 3 year old…
… and realizing that it's LFG in preschool…
...still cultivating Title 9 possibilities...
…and continuing to date so far above my worthiness grade that it’s not funny…

Onward.

Nice to see you back, even once in a while. I was in Old Town last weekend and found myself scanning the art festival crowd for a familiar face. No dice, but the sale at The Gap Outlet made the trip worthwhile.

Good to see you are still on this side of the grass. You have clearly been enjoying the summer.

Best regards,

You inspire me so much, keeping living the wonderful life you do; and more importantly keep sharing it :)

I've missed you so much. I know this bit of fluff on tumblr is supposed to get us over the hump but I find it's merely a tease. I miss your incredible stories. I look forward to the day you have time for them.
Looking at these pictures, I realize too how much I've been missing your little golden hair. She's lovely Max. You are wise to have given this summer your all....for her and yourself (including meeting up with my morning-cup-of-coffee Toad!)

So wonderful to see you here, if only briefly. LFG is just a pistol, isn't she. Having given birth to one of type, it's a joy. And date away buddy, just remember to show up on time:). Wishing you nothing but the best. Cute little boy too...

I haven't been the same since you stopped posting, ADG. Why are you making us suffer so?

Obviously that Boyer guy has been reading your blog and taking inspiration from you. He could be your sartorial twin...! I bet you could teach him a thing or two about style.

I'm curious about those pilfered vintage bespoke slip-ons...

Don't sell yourself short ol' chum. As a chap your worthiness grade is so far above that of any woman. Remember: they need us, not the other way around.

Great to hear from you and loved the recap of summer with your dear little lady. Great looking shoes and clothes. You really do it well.

I agree with LBF above. Don't you dare sell yourself short. You are a prize, my dear, an absolute prize. She's lucky to be seeing YOU.

Onward and upward!

When you both feel like the lucky one it is a good sign. Fall..onward.

I am happy to be reading about your misadventures - albeit in abbreviated form - with LFG yet again. Please don't make us wait two months for the next installment.

I live right near that B&N in Bethesda. Must have been one of the 107 days it rained this summer! Good to see you crossing the state line.

Thanks everyone. Nice to hear from you. I'm still putting most of my energy elsewhere...and I'm having fun dropping off the visual twee over at tumblr. I will from time to time, write a little ditty here.

Wow! I was on auto-pilot and clicked on. What a nice surprise. Just two weeks ago I realized you had changed my life forever when another yoga teacher showed up at a meeting (yes, yoga teacher / meeting should be an oxymoron) wearing a particular outfit and I thought "This guy does NOT know how to carry off GTH pants!"

Your daughter is growing well. I always said that the kids grow so much in the summer--must be all that water and sunlight! Looks like you had a memorable summer. Enjoy your dates. It's always nice to Find Someone.

A fine little placeholder of a post. Thanks!

Enjoying the tumblr bit, too. But it's sort of like a snack instead of a meal. Still...

Keep fighting the good fight.
